The Singleton
Tried this Auchroisk distillery product at my brother's place, he having picked it up in London someplace. Auchroisk is in central Speyside and one of the newest distilleries in Scotland.
The nose is plain and simple. Bit of peat. A good dose of vanilla, but not cloying. Antiseptic. The palette continues the plain theme. Starting with some roasted almonds, it smoothly transitions to an earth note which lingers. In a blind tasting I'd put it in the Lowlands. It would hold it's own among a selection of blends. Faint praise.
