Tesco Special Reserve Scotch Whisky
From WhIsKi
The Special Reserve is the next cheapest whisky from Tesco after their Value Scotch Whisky. It is also a blend, and again matches the minimum legal requirements (see links below) to be called a scotch whisky. Simon received a bottle for his birthday:
The nose is not unpleasant, with just a hint of fruit through the chemicals. The taste is quite bad though, although it's a lot smoother than the Value. On the second sip, you can tell that it is trying, but there's still something not quite right about it. And after that the novelty's worn off, and it's back on the shelf to wait for a Withnail moment - Simon
Does anyone feel up to a blind taste test between Tesco's offerings and other blends?
